Q. Why is a consultation encouraged prior to a library instruction session?

We ask that you complete as much information as possible in the Request a Consultation or Instruction Session Form. 

Library instruction is most effective when it meets the needs of a particular research-based assignment. In order to fully understand the context of your course, we want to ensure that we develop resources and activities that support students’ success in your class. Attaching syllabi and relevant assignments to your request also helps us understand your timeline, course objectives, and content to create useful materials.

We also approach library instruction as a collaboration between librarian, faculty, and students. We will work with you to develop an instruction plan that fits your schedule, assignments, and goals. If you decide to integrate an online course guide or additional assignments, this will allow time to co-create instructional materials with your feedback.
