What is “Inclusive Access”?
Inclusive Access is a textbook affordability program that aims to deliver digital learning resources to students
- at a significantly reduced cost and
- with access to materials on or before the first day of class
Students are provided with options for selecting the formats that best meet their needs, and they are also given the option to opt-out of the program.
Inclusive Access at Spalding University
The Spalding University Bookstore has partnered with some publishers, such as McGraw-Hill Connect, to provide Inclusive Access materials to select courses. If you are enrolled in one of those courses, your account will automatically be charged for course materials at a reduced rate unless you choose to opt-out and purchase the learning materials through another venue. Please note that the default Inclusive Access option is the cheapest option available. The default Inclusive Access option also ensures that you will have access to online course materials on the first day of class, and you will not have to wait for textbooks to arrive in the mail.
What are your textbook and learning material options for a specific course?
If you choose the default Inclusive Access (recommended) option, you will receive:
- Access to the assigned e-book for the course
- Access to modules and assignments on the McGraw-Hill Connect platform (that you will access via the Canvas course)
With Inclusive Access, there is no need to purchase any additional materials for the course. You can purchase the loose-leaf copy of the book only if you prefer to have a hard-copy.
Important: If you will take the following course series, you will only need to purchase Inclusive Access content one time for each series.
- ECON 281 - ECON 282
- ACC 301 - ACC 302 - ACC 303
- ACC 261 - ACC 262
If you purchased Inclusive Access materials for the first of a two-series course, you will not need to purchase that content for the second course in that series. You will need to opt-out for the second course in the series to avoid the default charge to your account.
If you choose to opt-out of Inclusive Access and purchase the course materials on your own OR because you’re taking the second course in a series and still have access from the first course, you will need to complete the following steps so that you won’t be automatically charged by the bookstore for materials:
- Visit the Spalding bookstore website (spalding.textbookx.com)
- Select the course for which you are opting out
- Go to elibrary
- Select "opt out"
Information about payment and financial aid
Charges for your materials will be added to the tuition account in Week 3. If financial aid has already been processed for the semester, then you will need to work with the Bursar to pay for the materials.
