If you are unable to access a database from off-campus, here are some things to try that may resolve the issue:

  1. Make sure that you are going through the library website.
    • When you are off-campus you will need to log in with your portal credentials to access databases and journals that the library subscribes to. The easiest way to make sure that you are correctly logged in is to access our resources through the library website.

If you visit the library website and use Search Everything, Databases A-Z, or other library tools to access the database/journal that you need, you should automatically be prompted to log in if you are not already.

  2. Try using a different browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.) and/or clear your browser cookies.
  3. Check the settings on your computer security software - if you have software such as Avast or AVG installed, you may need to "whitelist" or allow access to my.spalding.edu
  4. If you see the message "Linked Full Text" but are unable to access the article in question, please see more information about troubleshooting this issue at the link below.
  5. If you are still unable to access the database or journal you need, please use the Report Database/Journal Problems form linked below and library staff will get in touch with you at our first opportunity.
