If you are unable to access a database from off-campus, here are some things to try that may resolve the issue:

  1. Make sure that you are going through the proxy server.
    • When you are off-campus you will need to log in with your portal credentials to access databases and journals that the library subscribes to. This is done through a proxy server which tells the database/journal provider that you are affiliated with Spalding.

If you visit the library website and use Search Everything, Databases A-Z, or other library tools to access the database/journal that you need, you should automatically be prompted to log in. If this does not occur, you can copy and paste the following proxy address in front of the URL/web address you are attempting to access:

      http://ezproxy.spalding.edu:8080/login?auth=shibboleth&url=

  2. Try using a different browser (Firefox, Chrome, Safari, etc.)
  3. Check the settings on your computer security software - if you have software such as Avast or AVG installed, you may need to "whitelist" or allow access to my.spalding.edu
  4. If you are still unable to access the database or journal you need, please use the Report Database/Journal Problems form linked below and library staff will get in touch with you at our first opportunity.
